In Côte d’Ivoire, the Ministry in charge of Technical Education is partnering with Cybastion and its philanthropic organization,THEYA Foundation, to expand digital training for educators through the Africa DigiEmpower program.
On September 4, leaders from Cybastion and THEYA Foundation joined Ivorian officials at Lycée Technique d’Abidjan to mark the official launch of the digital training program for technical and vocational schools in Abidjan and surrounding areas.
Participating teachers will strengthen their digital skills through internationally-certified courses from the Cisco Networking Academy, and transfer that knowledge to students in their vocational schools. This training-of-trainers model creates a multiplier effect, which expands the program’s reach and deepens the digital skills capacity in Côte d’Ivoire’s education system.
The Honorable Jean-Louis Moulot, Minister Delegate for Technical Education, and Etile Philomene Badou, Principal of Lycée Technique d’Abidjan, spoke about the program’s significance for the country. More than 70 educators received training on that day in high-demand digital fields, including cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
"Cybastion is committed to developing the digital and technological skills of young people in Côte d’Ivoire," said Edgar Bouba, Managing Director of Digital Solutions at Cybastion, who represented the company at the launch event.
"To fully harness the full value of digital transformation, we need people with the digital skills to operate, secure, manage, and continue innovating with emerging technologies like AI," he emphasized.
At the launch event,Fatima Kourouma, Program Manager for the THEYA Foundation, highlighted the key role that young people play in driving the country’s economic and digital development.
The pilot is an important step toward scaling Africa DigiEmpower across Côte d’Ivoire’s network of technical education institutions. By training educators, the program will reach more young Ivorians with practical skills in networking, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, coding, and digital fundamentals.
The initiative underscores Cybastion’s Digital Fast Track approach to supporting countries in strengthening the local capacity required to sustain today's digital economy.
