Cybastion joined ambassadors, diplomats, business leaders and members of the African diaspora on June 3 at the Africa Day 2026 reception, where participants celebrated Africa's achievements and discussed ways to advance the development goals of the African Union's Agenda 2063.
Hosted by the African diplomatic corps and the African Union Mission to the United States, African ambassadors, senior officials from the U.S. government and other U.S. government agencies, business leaders and leaders of the African diaspora gathered to celebrate Africa's culture, progress and future at the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of African Art in Washington, D.C.
Cybastion representatives were Scott Blacklin, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs; Cynthia Sako, Administrative and events manager; and Antonio Espirito Santo, government affairs coordinator.
A panel of Africa-focused experts discussed the continent's development priorities under the theme "Ensuring sustainable availability of water and safe sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063", highlighting the need for greater collaboration, innovation and sustainable solutions to advance opportunities across the continent.
The evening included an inaugural ceremony“Africa Day Challenge”, a cultural and educational initiative aimed at strengthening ties between the African diplomatic community and young professionals from the African diaspora.
At the end of an energetic competition, the REF.U-GEEZ group won the inaugural competition, demonstrating its exceptional knowledge of the history, geography, culture and people of Africa.
Following the competition, guests enjoyed a showcase of African cuisine representing various regions of the continent and opportunities for cultural exchange and networking throughout the evening.
The event highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships, digital innovation and human capital development to advance the goals of the African Union Agenda 2063.
